Players choose one of four characters from the ranks consisting of Fio Germi, Marco Rossi, Nadia Cassel, and Trevor Spacey. Only one new weapon appears in MS4 by way of the dual machine gun and new vehicles include the Bradley Tank, Metal Crow Tank, Four Legged Walk Machine, and others. While soldiers such as Eri and Tarma from previous Slugs are no longer playable, they do appear in supporting roles throughout the game.
