IRON MAN? Will it live up to its hype? YOU DECIDE.

Based on the blockbuster movie by Marvel Studios, Iron Man™ blasts onto all major gaming platforms May 2008. Immerse yourself in hardcore shooting action and explosive combat from the film as well as exclusive content created just for the game. With freedom to move anywhere in the environment, customize your Iron Man suit and seamlessly transition between ground combat and open air flight as you battle against armies of fighter jets, tanks, armored Super Villains and more. You are a One Man Army. You are Iron Man.

Iron Man sheds light on some interesting new features that you will be able to play around with upon the game’s release. Gamers can expect the plotline of the game to remain the same as the movie, but with a few changes here and there to accommodate for the games structure. The Iron Man demo, not surprisingly, gives us an open world to work with on our missions and help players get used to the gameplay controls. In just the short time you take control of Iron Man, one glaring thing you will notice is the flying ability. Iron Man’s flying ability is fun and should be very interesting once you are able to fly anywhere and complete missions throughout the story. Sega is definitely heading on the right track with this, so far.

One of the most interesting features of this game is the various Iron Man suits. According to Sega, as part of DLC, you will soon see some more exciting suits made just for the game going back to the classic days of the comic book series. It is clear, browsing through the menus, that you will be able to equip Iron Man with various items and upgradeable weapons. The weapons Iron Man holds are powerful and you will be using a lot of them. Various missions will require you to be quick on your feet. You will be faced with melee combat from troops on the ground and air-missiles from helicopters around the area. Each of these situations will require the use of the varied amount of weapons that appear to be included in the final game.

It is surprising how well Iron Man turned out to be in the graphic department. You can tell Sega put a lot of work into making Iron Man look exactly like his movie counter-part. Sharp graphics give way to excellent looking destructible environments and explosions. The game loads smoothly and textures and shading are of top notch. You won’t go wrong booting this game up on your HD set. Since this is an early copy, things can only get better.

Although it is unfortunate that you only get a short time within the demo to really get the feel of what Iron Man can bring, you do get to really scratch the surface with him. His control mechanics certainly felt like something you’d expect of Iron Man. The controls are not only ironclad, but take into account the weight of the suit as well with the “heavy” controls. To go into more depth of his flying abilities, camera angles are certainly something that you will have to adjust too. The camera angles don’t seem like enough of a problem that they will make or break the game. Making the game an open-world adventure seemed to be the right choice for Sega and will ultimately be the one dynamic that will determine how this game holds in the general feel.

Innovative Features:
  • A DEVASTATING WEAPON: Iron Man alone battles armies of fighter jets, military tanks, armored Super Villains and more.
  • POWER CONTROL: Players will direct power to different parts of Iron Man¡¦s suit, creating a variety of unique attacks.
  • CHAOTIC BATTLEFIELDS: Open-ended battlefields create adrenalinepacked combat filled with unpredictable challenges.
  • BEYOND THE MOVIE: The game includes additional plotlines and characters from the Iron Man Comic Universe that are not featured in the movie.
  • OPEN WORLD: Players have complete freedom to move anywhere in the environment and make seamless transitions between ground combat and open air flight.

Official Nintendo Wii Wheel (compatible with both US and JAP) - $19.99 - IN STOCK NOW!!!

Prior to Nintendo's own Wii Wheel, several third-party steering wheel accessories had been introduced for the Wii Remote. One released by Ubisoft, the Wii Steering Wheel, was developed by Thrustmaster. It is bundled with certain games, such as Monster 4x4 World Circuit and GT Pro Series. The accessory, which is only for aesthetic/ergonomic enhancement, is meant for driving-style gameplay in which the Wii Remote would be held lengthwise in a two-handed gamepad orientation, steering the subject by tilting the controller. The Wii Steering Wheel is also sold separately for US$16.99. Since the Wii Steering Wheel was revealed, other similarly designed steering wheel accessories have been produced, including the Wii Racing Wheel by Intec.

Nintendo has revealed a Wii Wheel peripheral that is packaged with Mario Kart Wii, which was released in the second quarter of 2008. Cartoony, stylized versions of the Wii Wheel are depicted within the banner of Nintendo's official E3 page for Mario Kart Wii. As shown there, a button protrudes from the back of the Wii Wheel, which has a large, encircled Wii logo at its middle, although this has no function. The Wii Wheel has a hole on the right side in the back to allow use of the wrist strap while the Wii Remote is attached to the accessory, and to make removing the remote from the wheel easier. It would also allow the user to use the pointing function of the Wii Remote while it is in the peripheral. The Wii Wheel can also be used for Excite Truck: Need for Speed: Carbon and other games that share its control configuration.A single Wii Wheel is packaged with Mario Kart Wii, but more can be bought separately.

Grand Theft Auto IV - $58.99 - Release Date - 4/29/08

Grand Theft Auto IV (also known as GTA IV and GTA 4) is an upcoming sandbox-style action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North. It will be the ninth title in the Grand Theft Auto Series and the first in its fourth generation. Grand Theft Auto IV will be released worldwide on April 29th, 2008 for both PS3 and Xbox 360. Exclusive Xbox 360 episodic packs are due for release in August via Xbox Live.
The game will be set in a re-imagined GTA universe, with little-to-no continuity with previous games. The setting is a redesigned Liberty City, based heavily on New York City, as well as New Jersey. The game will follow Niko Bellic, an Eastern European who comes to the United States in search of the "American Dream," only to find his cousin has lied to him about the wealth that would be waiting for him.
The story of Grand Theft Auto IV was written by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser. The game will be the first in the series to use the new RAGE game engine, which also powered Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis.

GTA IV is structured similarly to previous games in the series. The core gameplay consists of elements of a third-person shooter and a driving game, affording the player a large, open environment in which to move around. On foot, the player's character is capable of walking, running, swimming, climbing and jumping, as well as utilizing weapons and basic hand to hand combat. Players can steal and drive a variety of vehicles, including automobiles, boats, helicopters, and motorcycles.

The open, non-linear environment allows players to explore and choose how they wish to play the game. Although storyline missions are necessary to progress through the game and unlock certain parts of the map and content, they are not required, as players can complete them at their own leisure. When not taking on a storyline mission, players can free-roam. However, creating havoc can attract unwanted and potentially fatal attention from the authorities. The more chaos caused, the stronger the response: police will handle "minor" infractions (attacking people, pointing guns at people, stealing cars, killing a few people, etc.), whereas SWAT teams, the FBI, and the military respond to higher wanted levels. The player can also partake in a variety of optional side missions.

Niko Bellic is Eastern European, between 28 and 32 years of age and has come to Liberty City to pursue the "American Dream". Niko was persuaded to move to Liberty City by his cousin Roman, who claimed in multiple e-mails to Niko that he was living a fabulous life, with a mansion, women, hot tubs and sports cars. Roman's claims turn out to be lies to hide his own failures, however, and in reality he only owns a small taxi business, which he wants Niko to work for.
Roman is the only person Niko knows in Liberty City to begin with, and is one of his major connections in the first part of the game. Niko is a tough character, whereas Roman is friendly. Roman is heavily in debt and a lot of people are after him. He desperately needs Niko's support, hence the reason he deceived Niko into travelling to Liberty City. They are constantly bickering. It is later revealed that one of the reasons Niko, as an ex-soldier, goes to Liberty City, is to track down the man who betrayed his old army unit.

New Unique Features:

  • After the initial load sequence, there are no loading sequences during gameplay. A Rockstar spokesperson claimed, "you can basically play the game from beginning to end without a single load screen."
  • Niko will be able to perform a variety of new actions such as climbing telephone poles and fire escapes, pushing people who bump into him, calling women for dates, playing darts and bowling. Niko may become intoxicated, causing him to stumble and the camera to blur and bounce about.
  • Stealing a parked car can no longer be done simply by opening the door and driving off. Now, it involves Niko approaching the car, breaking the glass, and hotwiring it; only then can he use it. The way Niko enters the car would look different each time depending on where and how he is in relation to the car. There will be several animation variations to sneaking up to a car and breaking its window. Because of the Euphoria engine, the way the character will approach the car will be completely random
  • Players will be able to choose from five different camera views while in a car, including a dashboard view, two outside views near and far from the car, a road view, and a cinematic view. The new chase cam will follow the player but focus the camera direction on a target vehicle
  • When driving in a car the player will be able to smash the window with his elbow, free-aim, and fire out of the broken window with any weapon in Niko's arsenal
  • Niko will be able to visit comedy clubs and cabarets in the game
  • Pedestrians are much more intelligent, realistic, and diverse, using mobile phones, cash machines, eating snacks, drinking soda, reading newspapers, scratching their noses, coughing, smoking, and interacting with each other through laughter and remarks. Homeless people will be seen in alleys rubbing their hands over a flaming barrel, sitting against walls, asking for spare change, and other expected actions. The flow of pedestrians and traffic will be different depending on the time of day. Pedestrians and motorists will often act as good Samaritans and aid characters that Niko is attacking or carjacking
  • Some meetings in the game will take place high in the buildings of skyscrapers, which will subsequently allow Niko to throw people off the buildings. However, Niko will not be able to access all the buildings in the game.

Days of Memories 2 for the Japanese Nintendo DS Console - $47.99 - 4/24/08

Days of Memories (abbreviated DOM) is a series of romantic love simulations that SNK Playmore has been making for cellphones since 2005. They have recently released a compilation of the first three games for the Nintendo DS, with new graphics and an extra viewing mode.

The games are romantic love simulations starring SNK, ADK, and SNK Playmore characters that take place in a parallel world to their own. In each game, You are given the month of July to start a relationship with one of the girls featured in the game, in order to finish the game with the beginnings of a workable relationship.

Trivia:
  • In the first two games, most of the characters have unique outfits which reflect the ren'ai genre of the game, like, for example, Kula wearing a junior high school seifuku uniform and a Gothic Lolita style outfit, as well as their normal clothes.
  • One of the locations you can visit in DOM1 is Neo*Geo Land in Esaka, a common location of fights in the King of Fighters games. This is replaced in DOM2 by Neo*Geo World.
  • The game tests players by asking for information like the birthdate, blood type and birthplace of whichever girl you are planning to complete the game on, not allowing you to progress without getting most of the information correct.
  • Various male characters cameo in the first two games, usually appearing in the context of their normal game appearances.
  • Some pre-ending final sequences break the fourth wall, with Kula's pre-ending actually displaying joystick commands, in order that the player physically selects the right move for the character, with the bad ending occurring if you don't know the moves.

Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball Portable 3 for the Japanese PSP - $59.99 - Release Date - 4/24/08

Known for its big-headed characters, and addictive arcade-style gameplay. It is long running in Japan, starting out in 1994 for the Super Famicon. The game has also appeared on the Sega Saturn (from 1995 to 1997), the Playstation (from 1995 to 2003), the Nintendo 64 (1997 to 2001), the Playstation 2(from 2002 to 2007), the Dreamcast, the Gamecube (also from 2002 to 2006) as well as Wii(from 2007). The series has also seen release on handheld systems since 1999under the title Power Pro-kun Pocket, with versions for the Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS. A version of the game has also seen release on the Playstation Portable, currently with two installments. The series is within its 14th iteration on home consoles, and its 10th on a handheld. It is one of the long-lasting titles in Japan with most number of game entries, like Winning Eleven/PES Series (also from Konami), Super Robot Wars Series(Banpresto), and Final Fantasy Series(Square-Enix).

The most distinctive feature of the Power Pro series is its odd depiction of characters. The basic design of the Power Pro baseball player (collectively known as "Pawapurokun") is a short figure with an excessively wide head, lacking a mouth, nose, ears, and hair. Pawapurokun are somewhat similar to the character Rayman, in that they do not have legs and thus their feet are not connected to their body. Pawapurokun do have arms and hands, however, their hands are fingerless and bear more resemblance to a sphere than a human hand. The Power Pro series has used this comic design for every single one of its games, even though improvements in graphics and gameplay have given birth to other games that feature almost life-like images of baseball players. It is impossible to distinguish one player from the other wthin Power Pro, except due to their jersey. All Pawapurokuns basically look exactly the same, except for some variations in skin color and behavior.

The Success Mode is the game's most compelling feature, combining role-playing game and life simulation games elements with the baseball sport. The basic objective is to train a generic Pawapurokun to become a professional baseball player.

The Power Pro series raised some controversy in Japan with its use of the term "Gyroball", a term made popular by Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka when he signed with the Boston Red Sox.

The Konami big-headed baseball series is back with new features. The biggest is the PoTaCa card system, used both for unlocking content in the game and as item/stat cards in the all new Pawagacha player creation mode. In this latter mode of play, gamers create players by collecting random ability capsules and setting them into slots. Part 3 is sure to be a winner.

Beatmania IIDX 14 Gold PS2 JPN - Pre-Order - Release Date 5/29/08

Konami is finally back with their 14th installment of the ever-so popular Beatmania series! I never had a chance to play it in the arcades, but I have been patiently waiting for it to come home. There are many things that I love about this game, here are some of the reasons why:
  • The game features over 45 new songs, some of which are unlocked over Konami's e-Amusement As suggested by the title, Gold's interface is a retouch of the interface of Distorted, featuring a prodomently metallic interface containing a gold and silver color scheme.
  • Core gameplay remained the same on Gold. A new hidden modifier, "REGUL-SPEED", locks the BPM of a song to a constant 150, but scores achieved with it turned on are not recorded. In addition, a new song folder was added, Assist Clear, for songs which were cleared using the 5-Key or Auto Scratch modifiers. Gold also utilizes less strict timing windows than previous arcade releases, utilizing more CS-like timings. Also, the ability for 2 players to play on separate difficulties was added.
  • A new e-Amusement feature added to Gold are "GP", points earned during songs which can unlock secret songs such as console exclusives and revival songs from previous styles.
  • If the player gets three AA's on any difficulty (without use of the Random or Mirror modifiers) and the levels for all the songs add up to either 20 for Hyper or 30 for Another, the player is awarded a chance to play the extra stage, Vanessa by Suzaku. The stage is played on Hard mode, which removes the 80% groove gauge requirement, but will fail the player if it drops down to 0%. If the stage is cleared, the player gets to play One More Extra Stage, Fascination MAXX, a crossover from the then recently released Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA.
Fans will be able to enjoy three notable songs:
  • GOLD RUSH - a song accessed through the VIP Room system. The song is an extended remix of Gold's opening theme, with additional vocals provided by Michael a la Mode. The song has gained a cult following in IIDX online communities due to it's ridiculous sound and vocals (further characterized by its given genre, "Reckless Rave") and its incomprehensible lyrics. Lines from the song, such as "Make it make money" have also been parodied by players.
  • Tranoid - a tribute to video game music. The video for the song contains an opening sequence for a fictitious game of the same name, staring "Tran", an alien character seen frequently in IIDX videos. The actual game, consists of her running down a track (which resembles the gameplay area of IIDX but tilted on its side), dodging other red, white, and blue aliens. The "game", is actually Tranoid's notechart on Normal for that portion of the song, and the game area and colors even imitate the standard colors of notes on IIDX. The logo for the game, resembles the logo for Gradius, another Konami game.
  • The Smile of You - the theme song from the Konami game Elebits, which coincidentally also includes references to other Bemani games in general.
And for those thinking about waiting for the american version? It will be quite some time before its release, potentially 2009.

For those seeking the limited edition, which comes with the game, the summit live dvd, the gold special edition box, and the limited edition gold poster, we will have limited quantities available as we approach the release date.

Soon, it was realized that the whole quest was surrounded by lies, treachery, and false hopes.

Colette was being hunted by assassins, angels, warriors, and beasts from a mysterious world but no one knew why. After losing many battles, Lloyd realized that he did not "know-it-all." Which led him to work even harder. He gave everything he had, not for the world...but for Colette.

Chaos was rapidly consuming the world. Labeled as criminals of Sylvarant, they had no choice but to escape to the world of Tethe'alla. In this new world, they uncovered new truths about Sylvant and Tethe'alla. They also discovered Colettes' destiny.

Grand Theft Auto IV - Team & Race multi player modes revealed

To fans of the Grand Theft Auto series, Rockstar has decided to reveal some tidbits about Grand Theft Auto IV's options. Rockstar will be revealing more information as we approach the game's release on the 29th.

According to Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV website, they released the following:

Team modes
  • Team Deathmatch - "Rub out" other teams and loot opposing players' dead bodies for money. The team with most cash at the end wins.
  • Team Mafiya Work - Work as a team to complete "Mafiya" contracts before time expires; missions include: escorting wanted men, picking up MacGuffins and stealing cars. Teams must "scupper" opposing crew's work too, as it's the team with the most cash at the end of the round that wins.
  • Team Car Jack City - Teams must collect cars that spawn around the map and take them to drop off points for cash; the condition of the cars when dropped off determines the amount of cash, except for bonus cars stuffed with drugs (these have a set value). Teams must deliver the vehicles ordered by the "boss." The team with the most cash at the end wins. (Are you sensing a pattern yet?)
  • Cops n' Crooks - The crook team must get its boss to safety. The cop team has to take him down or simply destroy the getaway vehicle (see sub-modes below).
    • All for One - Crooks win by getting their boss to a getaway vehicle and escaping. Cops win by killing the Boss before he gets away.
    • One for All - No boss, just plain crooks trying to escape. Cops win by killing all of the crooks (there's no respawning in this mode). Crooks win by filling up the getaway vehicle, which holds up to four players.
  • Turf War - Timed capture-the-base. A number of bases are scattered across the map and can be captured by standing in the appropriate area for a short time; bases can be captured more quickly with multiple teammates, but can't be captured if opposing players are on the base (you know what to do). Captured bases earn money. The team with the most cash at the end ... wait for it ... wins!
Race modes
  • Race - Checkpoint races with the ability to respawn at the last checkpoint passed; numerous courses for cars, boats and helicopters -- laps and vehicle class/type are adjustable (see sub-modes below).
    • Free Race - Point-to-point races; first one to the finish wins.
    • Cannonball Run - Traverse several checkpoints anyway you can.
  • GTA Race - Checkpoint races with the added element of combat; weapons spawn throughout courses. Players can also exit their vehicles during road races.
