3D Dot Game Heroes is a 2009 action-adventure video game developed by Silicon Studio and published by From Software in Japan and Atlus in North America. The game uses a unique style, presenting 2D, retro style graphics in a 3D environment. The game was released in Japan on November 5, 2009 and is to be released in North America on May 11, 2010 exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
The game received a positive reception from critics. Famitsu gave the game a 8/8/7/7 a total of 30 out of 40 saying that the gameplay is a huge homage to the Legend of Zelda and there are numerous references to Nintendo Entertainment System games throughout the game causing the game to be a "nostalgia-laden trip". Famitsu also praised the graphics saying that the blocky animations are pretty and that they fuse the old with the new seamlessly, also saying that it was a fun and well-made title, though it does not qualify as a new and original game.
Features
The game's gameplay strongly resembles that of retro 8-bit games of the past, particularly that of The Legend of Zelda.
Players move characters from screen to screen exploring dungeons, battling enemies, collecting items and solving puzzles reminiscent of the classic games of past. When the player's health bar is full, the player's sword will grow to tremendous sizes whenever swung.
Swords in game can be customized and leveled up to increase its length, girth as well as magical power, other special items that can also be used include boomerangs, lanterns, candles and bows.
Players can also create their own character model using the game's 3D sprite editor.
Players are also able to collect monsters to be featured in an encyclopedia which is done through beating the monster on its head with a book until its profile shows up in the encyclopedia's pages.
Loading screens in-game also feature recreated box arts of classic video games using the game's 3D sprites.
Last Rebellion is a console role-playing video game developed by Nippon Ichi Software and Hit Maker and published by Nippon Ichi Software in Japan as well as in North America and Tecmo Koei in Europe exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The game was released on January 28, 2010 in Japan, and soon to be released in North America on February 23, 2010 and March 26, 2010 in Europe.
Features
Exploration is free-roaming, but in combat, the mechanics become turn-based.
The battle system will allow the player to target specific body parts of an enemy, and the reaction will be realistic; hence, if you shoot out the legs of an opponent, his or her movement will be drastically reduced, while blows to the arms will weaken their attacks.
By strategically striking key areas of the body, players can strip the enemy of their ability to fight.
Players can switch back and forth between the two characters during battle.
Since Nine and Aisha share a single turn, the player must strategically choose which character will execute their attacks first.

Final Fantasy XIII is a console role-playing game being developed by Square Enix. It is stated to be released for PlayStation 3 in Japan, and on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Europe and North America. First appearing at the 2006 E3, the game features futuristic elements and is set in a high-tech world. It is set to be released in Japan on December 17, 2009.
Final Fantasy XIII is the flagship title of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII collection.
The concept for Final Fantasy XIII's battle system is to maintain the strategic nature of command-based battles. The system stemmed from a desire to create battles similar to those found in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.Like those in Final Fantasy XII, enemies are integrated into the world environment. Yet unlike Final Fantasy XII battles do not take place in the same "dimension", but rather a short flash transports players to a new battle screen, separate from the main playing world. The Active Time Battle (ATB) system will return, but it works differently from its predecessors. Users will be able to chain large numbers of commands together in order to achieve attack bonuses.
Features
Please note, this version will be the second print, will not contain download code for FFIV
The first battle system was shown during the E3 2006, but it was only a prototype. A new interface was shown recently by Square Enix in various Japanese magazines and trailers (depicted in the image adjacent). In battle, the player can only control one character at a time out of a party of up to three.
Multiple commands can be stacked into slots per turn and released at the same time to form a combo. The number of command slots increases as the characters grow in strength.[5] These commands include series staples such as Attack, Fire, Blizzard and Cure, as well as new ones such as Launch, which sends the enemy up in the air and allows the character to perform mid-air combos on the opponent,[6][7] and spells such as Ruin, Ruinaga, and Radical Strike. The difference between XIII's battle system and the ATB gauge is that these commands can still be placed in the slots even though the bar has run out, and the actions will be executed once the required slots are filled up. This, however, affects the chain combo hits as the combo has been interrupted. The game does not make use of MP but introduces "cost points" for each command, which determine how many times the commands can be used per turn.
A "break state" is one of the new features of Final Fantasy XIII battle system. The breaks refer to the times an enemy enters a state of non-retaliation. This occurs when a chain combo has been maintained for a certain period of time on an enemy. When a high level combo has been achieved, the enemy will glow red and enter this state, during which the player will be able to inflict high amounts of damage. The chain bar will gradually deplete during this period; when it becomes empty, the break state ends.
Magic, including summoning, is restricted to characters that belong to the group called l'Cie (pronounced /ˌləˈsiː/). Magic is not readily available in the beginning of a game, but it is bestowed upon the characters after a certain event. Because magic cannot be used outside of battle, the HP of the party is completely restored after each battle.[5]
The classic summoned creatures called Eidolons (as they were in Final Fantasy IV DS and Final Fantasy IX) will return in Final Fantasy XIII. Shiva, Carbuncle, Ifrit, Siren, and Odin appeared in shown footage.[8] Producer Yoshinori Kitase has confirmed that Bahamut will also appear in the game.[9] When summoned, the Eidolon stay in battle while the characters accompanying the summoner leaves the party.[10] There is also a new feature called "Gestalt Mode", which when activated joins the summoned and its summoner somehow; for example, the character Snow can ride and steer the combined Shiva Nix and Shiva Styria in a "Driving Mode". This changes the pace of the combat significantly. But not all summons turn into mechanical vehicles, Odin's Gestalt Mode changes him into a horse for Lightning to ride.[11] Each character will posses only one Eidolon that is summoned from a crystal that sprouts from the character's mark of l'Cie.[5] It has been recently revealed that the summons will play a major role in the game's storyline as well, much like Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X.[12] Characters will be able to use special skills other than ones gained while working with summons.
The player is able to view the HP and name of the enemy before engaging it in battle. When engaging an enemy, the camera moves to another position and the battle menu appears, making the battle transitions nearly seamless.[13] The after-battle victory screen in XIII holds information such as the time it took to finish the battle, the highest number of combos executed, the number of break attacks and the quality of battle which is determined by a ranking of one to five stars.
A new option in battle was revealed during Gamescom 2009 called Paradigm Shifting. Using this option, player can switch party members' roles during battle. For example, a character can be switched to use defensive or offensive tactics as the battle dictates.[14]
Blood of Bahamut is a role-playing game by Square Enix. It was released for the Nintendo DS in Japan on August 6, 2009. The game has not been announced for release outside the region. Blood of Bahamut is an action role-playing game in which up to four players battle giant beasts that are featured on both screens of the DS. In order to defeat a giant, players must first destroy its protective armor, then attack its "core," and finally attack its other body parts. The giants can summon smaller beasts, which the players must battle simultaneously. Defeating a giant's body parts and the smaller beasts will grant players "materials" which can be used to produce powerful weapons. The game will contain over 130 missions.
Features
The game is set in a city built on the back of a great beast known as a Gigant. The city suddenly comes under attack and protagonists Ibuki and Yui must defend it as well as other cities that were built on Gigants that are awakening. The story features seven main characters in total. The Gigants are sentient, and will also attempt to defend themselves, taking part in battles. The Gigants include Chaos Bahamut, Ifrit, Shiva, Fenrir, and Gilgamesh, many of which are also the names of summon monsters depicted in Square Enix's popular Final Fantasy series.
Ibuki (イブキ?): The male main protagonist armed with a sword. He is a summoner with the power of the White Dragon residing in his body.
Yui (ユイ?): A female Gigant-clan member who wields a cane staff.
Kamo-Ogre (カモ=オウガ, Kamo-Ouga?): Commander of the Ifreet clan, uses a battle axe.
Santiago (サンチアゴ, Sanchiago?): Fenrir clan elder, wields a spear.
Ryuma (リュマ?) Broke from the Shiva clan to travel the world as a 'free spirit', wields a hand-held cannon.
Ren (レン?): Another Gigant clan swordsman. Wields a samurai's katana.
Aslan (アスラン, Asuran?): Knight of unknown origins, wields a greatsword.
Blood of Bahamut was directed by Motomu Toriyama, who previously worked on numerous other Square Enix titles included the Super Nintendo tactical role-playing game Bahamut Lagoon. Before its official announcement, its trademarking prompted rumours of a connection to Bahamut Lagoon. Such a connection has not been confirmed or denied by Square Enix. Blood of Bahamut was produced by Eisuke Yokoyama, who recently worked on Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. The team stated that their goal was to "[...] cross the limits of the DS with a dynamic feel and with a direct sense of control." The game's music is composed by Naoshi Mizuta. The official soundtrack was released in Japan on August 12, 2009.
Famitsu gave Blood of Bahamut a score of 31 out of 40

Ultraman pounds out the hurt once again in Banpresto's latest take on the popular action hero from Japanese pop culture. Baltan and all the usual oddly apportioned enemy creatures are in force where gargantuan fighters battle in all-out rough 'n tumble bouts. The controls seem identical to the previous Fighting Evolutions and the visual feast looks to be at the same level as before with polished scenery and cityscapes to fight within. Special moves and attacks have been redone however and look spiffy. The opening movie to the game shows off a row of Ultramen pitted against a similarly long line of monsters.

Bleach: Versus Crusade for the Wii was released in Japan on December 18, 2008. Scans depict a roster of characters in line with the manga storyline, featuring Neliel, Nnoitra, Ichigo with his hollow mask and Grimmjow's released form to name but a few. The gameplay appears to have been changed substantially, showing a split-screen during multi-player fights. It is a one-on-one fighter, but players pick a partner character for various team-up attacks and other maneuvers as well as being able to switch between them. It supports online play via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and can be played with the Classic Controller or GameCube controller in place of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.
Features
Unlike other installments, it was developed by Treasure Co. Ltd. Visitors to the official website were allowed to vote for which two characters they wanted on the cover of the game; the winning pair was Ichigo and Rukia. The amount of time for the bankais and specials have all been extended.
The game has 25 playable characters, less than the game before it. Athough most of the Espada are playable characters, only Espada 4-10 are playable. Stark, Barragan Luisenbarn, and Halibel are not, but Ulquiorra Cifer, Nnoitra Jiruga, Grimmjow Jeagerjaques, Zommari Lerouz, Szayel Aporro Granz, Aaroniero Arruruerie, and Yammy Riyalgo are.
